Itinerary
Day 1: Tarangire National Park
Your adventure begins with a drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, known for its vast elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. A game drive through the park offers the chance to see lions, leopards, giraffes, and numerous bird species. The Tarangire River, which flows year-round, attracts a variety of animals, making it an excellent spot for wildlife viewing. After a full day of exploring, you will head to your lodge or tented camp for the night.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you will travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The crater floor is home to a dense concentration of wildlife, including black rhinos, elephants, lions, and flamingos in the seasonal lakes. The diverse ecosystem within the crater provides breathtaking scenery and unforgettable wildlife encounters. After a full-day game drive, you will exit the crater and proceed to your lodge near the crater rim.
Day 3: Serengeti National Park (Central Serengeti)
Leaving Ngorongoro behind, you will embark on a scenic drive to Serengeti National Park, passing through the vast savannahs dotted with acacia trees. Upon entering the park, game viewing begins immediately as you make your way toward Central Serengeti (Seronera area), known for its large population of big cats, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The region is a prime location for spotting predators in action as they hunt among the migrating herds. The day concludes at a comfortable tented camp in the heart of Serengeti.
Days 4–7: Serengeti National Park (Great Migration Experience)
The next four days will be spent exploring the Serengeti, following the Great Migration as hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebras move across the plains in search of fresh grazing land. Depending on the season, you may visit areas such as Moru Kopjes, the Grumeti River, or the Northern Serengeti, where dramatic river crossings take place. Serengeti’s vast landscapes also host an array of resident wildlife, including elephants, buffalos, hyenas, and over 500 bird species.
For those looking for a unique perspective of the Serengeti, an optional hot air balloon safari offers breathtaking aerial views of the sunrise over the plains. Each day includes game drives in different areas, maximizing opportunities to witness nature’s raw beauty and the cycle of life on the African savannah.
Day 8: Serengeti to Arusha (Departure)
On the final day, you will enjoy a sunrise game drive before beginning the journey back to Arusha. You can either take a scenic flight from Serengeti to Arusha or opt for an overland drive, offering one last chance to soak in Tanzania’s incredible landscapes. Upon arrival in Arusha, you will be transferred to the airport or your hotel, marking the end of an unforgettable safari adventure.
